- In order to be licensed as a physical therapist in any one of the 53 jurisdictions in the United States of America, a candidate must take and pass the National Physical Therapy Examination (NPTE)
. This is a computer-based PT examination administered by the Federation of State Boards of Physical Therapy (FSBPT) through Prometric.
NPTE consists of 250 items that measure knowledge and competencies required of entry-level physical therapists in the following areas of the physical therapy practice: Examination, Evaluation, Intervention and Standards of Care.
ICSEC’s NPTE Preparation Program provides a comprehensive discussion of the different concepts, principles, and competencies needed for the practice of Physical Therapy in the United States.
